Customer Interface Sample Pages—Intranet Access Support
Note: The issue mentioned in this section may appear on systems deployed with
JRun.
As part of the Customer Interface Sample application, a deployment descriptor
file, web.xml, requests a resource from the Sun web site. For the web application
to deploy successfully on any J2EE platform, an Internet connection is required
on the Customer Interface server. In the event that the Customer Interface server
does not have Internet access (for testing), you must perform the following tasks:
1 Copy the resource from http://java.sun.com/j2ee/dtds/web-app_2_2.dtd.
2 Without editing the file or changing its file name, save the file to a public
folder on your Customer Interface server.
3 Edit the deployment descriptor file, web.xml (you will find this located in the
installation target WEB-INF folder).
4 Change the web site located in the DOCTYPE tag from http://java.sun.com/
j2ee/dtds/web-app_2_2.dtd to point to your hosted location (for example,
http://myserver/resources/web-app_2_2.dtd).
Result: You will now be able to deploy the web application.
Cannot verify the connection to the database using JRun
If you cannot verify connection to the database using JRUN, you must check the
order of bindings of your network cards. If your server has two network cards,
you must put the CLAN first in the binding order, and then check your
connection to the database.
To verify the CLAN settings on your server
Choose Start ➝ Settings ➝ Control ➝ Panel Network and Dialup

Connections.
From the Advanced Menu, choose Advanced Settings ➝ Adapters and

Bindings.
3 Ensure that the network card corresponding to the CLAN is listed before
that of the ELAN.
4 Click the setting that you want to move up or down in the list, and then click
the Up or Down arrow button.
