The utility must not administer the Symposium Web Center Portal

software.
If the utility has its own database, it must not impact the Symposium Web

Center Portal database.
You must not use disk compression utilities.

You must not use memory tweaking utilities (for example, WinRAM
!
Turbo, Memory Zipper, and so on) to reclaim memory that is unused by
Microsoft.
The installation or uninstallation of the third-party software should not
!
impact or conflict with the Symposium Web Center Portal software (for
example, it must not cause .DLL conflicts). If such conflicts occur, you may
need to rebuild the server.
The administrator must perform tests to ensure that these conditions and
recommendations are met prior to putting the server into production. Nortel
Networks support personnel may ask for the results of the testing during fault
diagnosis. As part of the fault diagnosis process, the distributor or end-user may
be asked to remove third-party software.
IIS Lockdown and URLScan
When you install IIS Lockdown, you add additional security features to an IIS
server, such as the Portal server. IIS Lockdown works by turning off unnecessary
features, such as the news service or file transfer service, thereby reducing
potential IIS attack points.
When you install IIS Lockdown, you can also install the URLScan component.
URLScan is another Microsoft tool that can provide additional security when it
is used in conjunction with IIS Lockdown. It restricts the type of HTTP requests
that the server will process, and the types of file transfers that are allowed to and
from the server. For example, when the IIS Lockdown feature is enabled,
URLScan does not allow users to download files with the .exe extension.
Symposium Web Center Portal Release 4.0/SU05 supports IIS Lockdown. You
must complete the following tasks to ensure that IIS Lockdown works properly
with Symposium Web Center Portal:
