Installing the Sybase Open Client
You install the Sybase Open Client on the computers on which you plan to
install the Portal Server, the Portal Administrator, the Portal Agent Interface, and
the External Web server. For more information about installing the Sybase Client
on the External Web server or a standalone computer, see "To install the Sybase
Client on a standalone PC (optional)" on page 102.
To install the Sybase Client
1 Log on to Windows using the Local Administrator user ID.
2 If the Nortel Networks Symposium Web Center Portal Sybase Distribution
CD-ROM is not in the CD-ROM drive, insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive.

CAUTION
Risk of malfunction
If you do not restart the computer after you configure Sybase
Adaptive Server, the Sybase Client will not install properly. If you
do not restart the computer, and then you try to uninstall Sybase, it
will not uninstall properly. Sybase files are left on the system and
you cannot manually delete these files. You must reinstall
Windows 2000 and the Sybase Adaptive server again.
