Introduction
Follow the procedures in this section to install the J2SE environment. You can
download the required J2SE environment applications from the java.sun.com
web site.
Notes:
You must install J2SE 1.4.2 SDK before you install any of the other

applications in this section. For more information, refer to "External Web
server checklist" on page 534.
The requirements listed in this section are for Apache 4.x. If you are using

Apache 5.x, refer to the Apache 5.x documentation
(http://jakarta.apache.org) for information about requirements.
To install J2SE 1.4.2 SDK
You install J2SE 1.4.2 SDK on the External Web server. You must uninstall any
prior versions of Java 2 Standard Edition and Software Development Kits before
you install J2SE 1.4.2 SDK.
ATTENTION
1 Download J2SE SDK from the Java Sun web site (http://java.sun.com).
ATTENTION
2 Install J2SE 1.4.2 SDK.

Ensure you do not download the NetBeans IDE v 3.5 with
J2SE v 1.4.2 COBUNDLE. If you download the wrong
version of J2SE 1.4.2, the Web Communications
component will not install.
If the current version of J2SE SDK on the web site is not
1_4_2 sdk, you must search for this version in the Archive
section of the java.sun.com web site.
