Removing the Tensioning Idler Assembly

Figure 132
for this procedure.
1. Park the machine on a level surface, lower the cutting unit, engage the
parking brake, set the key switch to the O
from the key switch.
2. Remove the belt covers from the cutting unit.
3. Use a 3/8 inch or 1/2 inch drive ratchet or breaker bar in the idle arm to
release the drive belt tension.
4. Slip the drive belt off the gearbox pulley and allow the idler to rest against
the shoulder bolt.
5. Remove the fasteners securing the tensioning idler assembly to the cutting
unit and remove the assembly.
6. Secure the idler assembly in a vise by clamping on the idler pivot plate.
