Step 1 (When indicating P1658:)
1) Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2) Lift and support the fuel tank. ( 5-3)
3) Check the EXCVA motor coupler
tacts.
Is the contacting OK?
YES Go to Step 6.
Loose or poor contacts on the EXCV motor cou-
NO
pler
4) After repairing the trouble, clear the DTC using SDS tool.

Step 2
1) Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2) Remove the right under cowling. ( 8-5)
3) Check the installation of EXCV cables. ( 6-9)
If it is necessary, adjust the EXCV cables. ( 6-8)
4) Disconnect the EXCVA position sensor coupler
5) Turn the ignition switch ON.
6) Measure the voltage between the R wire terminal
ground.
7) If OK, then measure the voltage between the R wire terminal
and B/Br wire terminal
EXCVA position sensor input voltage: 4.5 – 5.5 V
\ 09900-25008: Multi circuit tester set
W Tester knob indication: Voltage ()
Is the voltage OK?
YES Go to Step 3.
• Loose or poor contacts on the ECM coupler
NO (terminal
• Open or short circuit in the R wire or B/Br wire
8) After repairing the trouble, clear the DTC using SDS tool.
