Introduce how to configure the S5600 Storage System, including configuration process and

configuration procedure.

3.1 Configuration Process

After establishing the environment of the S5600, you need to configure the system through the

OSM3.0 before accessing data. This section describes the initial configuration process of the

S5600.

3.2 Creating a RAID Group

RAID levels supported by the S5600 and steps to create RAID groups of the supported levels

on the OSM3.0.

3.3 Creating a LUN

Creating a LUN in the storage system enables the AS to make full use of storage resources.

3.4 Creating a Host Group

Through creating host groups, the OSM3.0 can manage hosts of the same type easily.

3.5 Adding a Host

The host displayed on the OSM3.0 interface is virtually created for easier management. It cannot

be mapped to a physical AS unless a port has been added to this virtual host.

3.6 Adding a Mapping

Mapping a LUN to the host or the host group. Then, the host or the host group gains specified

storage resources.

3.7 Setting the iSCSI Host Port on the Controllers

Only when correct parameters are set, can the iSCSI host port of the controller be connected to

the server.

3.8 Setting the FC Host Port on the Controllers

To ensure the optimal port performance and the connection of the controller to the server, the

rate of the FC host port must be set correctly.

3.9 Setting up a Connection from the AS to the Controller

After setting the iSCSI port on the controller, you need to log in to the AS to set the parameters

and connect the AS to the storage system. This section describes how to connect a Windows AS

or a Linux AS to the iSCSI host port of the controller.
