3 Configuring the Storage System

3.12 Using CHAP Authentication on an AS

If the CHAP authentication is enabled on the OSM3.0 main interface, you need to use the CHAP
authentication on the AS, so that the AS can connect to the storage system. This section describes
how to enable CHAP authentication on a Windows AS and a Linux AS respectively.

Prerequisite
Take Windows Server 2003 as an example. You can perform the following steps to set up the
connection from the AS to an iSCSI host port on the controller. For other Windows operating
systems, adjust the operation process according to the actual conditions.
Procedure
Step 1 Log in to the AS as a user of the administrator group.
Step 2 Run the Microsoft iSCSI Initiator. Click the Targets tab. See
Step 3 Choose a target port and then click Log On.... The Log On to Target dialog box is displayed.

Step 4 Click Advanced.... The Advanced Settings dialog box is displayed. See
Step 5 Select CHAP logon information. In the User name and Target secret text boxes of the CHAP
logon information group box, enter the CHAP user name and the related password
corresponding to the port.

Step 6 Click OK to return to the Log On to Target dialog box.
Step 7 Click OK to return to the iSCSI Initiator properties dialog box.

This operation applies to the situation that the front-end host port of storage system is the
iSCSI host port.
By default, the CHAP authentication is not enabled on the storage system. In this case, skip
the operation described in this section.
If the CHAP authentication is enabled on the storage system, the CHAP authentication
needs to be enabled on the ASs too.
