1.3 Installing and Checking the Hardware

Introduce how to install and check the hardware of S5600.

The S5600 controller subrack (FC host ports) provides the following features:
Mature hardware platform

Redundant functional modules
–
Multiple backup mechanisms
–
Global hot-spare disks
–
Data verification mechanism
–
Dual FC-arbitrated loops (ALs)
–
Performance monitoring
–
Fault alarms
–
The controller subrack can be installed in the standard 19-inch cabinet.
With the modular design, S5600 controller subrack(FC host ports) satisfies the
requirements for system expansion.
NOTE
The S5600 storage device supports cluster services.
D200 disk subrack
The D200 disk subrack works with the S5600 controller subrack (FC host ports) to build
an intelligent storage system of high reliability, high performance, and high availability.
All the hardware modules in the S5600 support online check, fault location and online
replacement.
AS
The ASs access the S5600 and obtain the storage resource. Examples of the ASs are a video
surveillance AS, a streaming AS and a data backup AS.
NOTE
You can improve the service reliability by using the cluster function.
Maintenance terminal
Through the maintenance terminal, you can log in to the OSM3.0 by using the Internet
Explorer (IE) to manage and maintain storage resources.

FC switch
The FC switches enable the storage devices to connect to more ASs.
