3.11 Enabling CHAP Authentication

The controller (with iSCSI host port) provides Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol
(CHAP) authentication. Enabling CHAP authentication can enhance the security when an AS
access a storage system.

Description
It is described as follows.
S5600 controller subrack (FC host ports)

This parameter indicates the WWN address information of the the
port of FC HBA on the AS.
S5600 controller subrack (FC and iSCSI host ports)

For the FC option: This parameter indicates that the address of the
WWN of the FC HBA card on the AS. For the iSCSI option: This
parameter indicates the name of the iSCSI initiator on the AS.

The parameter indicates the connection status between the storage
device and the ascription host of the port.
There are two options: Connected and Disconnected.
By default, the CHAP authentication is not enabled on the storage system. In this case, skip
the operation described in this section.
To improve the security of ASs accessing the storage system, you are recommended to
enable CHAP authentication.

Information drop-down list box, the initiator node names described in

When initially adding a port to the host, ensure that the storage device and
the host are connected. Otherwise, the information about available ports
cannot be displayed on the OSM3.0 main interface.
If a host is connected to the storage device and the storage device is not
restarted, the information about the ports of the host is always listed in the
Port Information drop-down list box, even if the connection is interrupted.
For S5600 controller subrack (FC and iSCSI host ports): when adding a
port to a host, you can view the displayed information by clicking
Connected iSCSI Port in the Mapping navigation tree. Then choose the
port from the Port Information drop-down list box based on the
information about the connected iSCSI host ports.
