SHIFT VALVE BODY
Clean around the
valve body with
compressed air to
remove dust, dirt
and foreign
material.
NOTICE
Do not drop or strike the solenoid valves when ser-
vicing. Excessive shock may damage the solenoid
valve.
EMERGENCY VALVE FUNCTION
NOTE:
• The emergency valve is used when the hydraulic
pressure is shut off by the faulty A/T clutch pres-
sure control solenoid (stuck; mechanical lock),
and the vehicle is hindered from running. Open
the bypass oil circuit manually to supply hydrau-
lic pressure (In this case, the transmission will be
fixed in the 2nd range and the vehicle creeps dur-
ing idling.)
• The stopper bolt that operates the emergency
valve is secured with the lock plate. When trou-
ble occurs, remove the lock plate and turn the
stopper bolt all the way in to activate the emer-
gency valve.
REMOVAL
Remove the following:
- left engine side cover (page 3-17)
- left front mud guard (page 3-8)
- left inner fender (page 3-9)
- wire clip
- two setting bolts
- valve body cover

A/T clutch pressure control 2P (Black) connector
