Adaptive Tx Power Control Use Cases
Use Model: Airport Deployment
C-4

Settings

Avoid Other WLANs – On the Airport APs, the network administrator has
disabled 'Avoid Other WLANs', so that their power reduction calculations will
not be affected by the APs of tenants, such as Jimbo's AP #N.
RF Group Name – RF Group Name has been left blank, so the Airport APs
will base their power reduction calculations on each other's SSIDs. That is, if
one AP contains the same SSIDs as the other, or a subset of the other's SSIDs,
then it will reduce power to accommodate the other AP.

Decisions: AP #1

AP #1 & AP #4 – AP #1 [T-Mobile, Boingo] compares its SSID configuration
with AP #4 [T-Mobile]. Since AP #1 has an SSID, Boingo, that is not on AP #4,
AP #1 will not consider reducing power for AP #4.
AP #1 & AP #N – AP #1 [T-Mobile, Boingo] compares its SSID configuration
with AP #N [Jimbo's]. Since none of the AP #1 SSIDs are on AP #N, AP #1 will
not consider reducing power for AP #N.

Decisions: AP #4

AP #4 & AP #1 – AP #4 [T-Mobile] compares its SSID configuration with AP
#1 [T-Mobile, Boingo]. Since AP #4's only SSID is also on AP #1, AP #4 will
consider reducing power for AP #1.
AP #4 & AP #N – AP #4 [T-Mobile] compares its SSID configuration with AP
#N [Jimbo's]. Since AP #4's SSID is different from the SSID on AP #N, AP #4
will not consider reducing power for AP #N.

Results with No RF Group Name

In this configuration AP #1 will operate at full power, while AP #4 will reduce
its power as needed to avoid interfering with AP #1.
