Table 11.5 Neighboring Access Point Statistics
Field
Description
The Extended Rate Protocol (ERP) refers to the protocol used by
ERP
This field indicates how an
IEEE
station.
If an IEEE 802.11g station determines that there are one or more IEEE 802.11b nodes on the network using the
same channel that it is using, it will enable request-to-send (RTS) and clear-to-send (CTS) protection.
The number shown on the current UI is a hexadecimal number that when converted to binary shows how the
ERP flag is set.
Use the following map to determine the current ERP setting for this AP.
• 0x0 indicates "None." There are no IEEE 802.11b (non-ERP) stations present.
• 0x1 indicates that an IEEE 802.11b (non-ERP) device is present. This AP has an IEEE 802.11b-only
station. (This flag should not ever be used alone.)
• 0x2 indicates that IEEE 802.11g stations should use RTS/CTS protection. There is another AP on
same channel with IEEE 802.11b-only client stations.
• 0x3 indicates that there is a non-ERP device present and IEEE 802.11g stations should use
RTS/CTS protection.
• 0x4 indicates that IEEE 802.11g stations should use the Barker preamble.
• 0x5 indicates that IEEE 802.11g stations should use the same protocol as 0x1 but with the Barker
preamble.
• 0x6 indicates that IEEE 802.11g stations should use the same protocol as 0x2 but with the Barker
preamble.
• 0x7 indicates that IEEE 802.11g stations should use the same protocol as 0x3 but with Barker pre-
amble.
Beacons
Shows the total number of beacons transmitted by this access point since it was last booted.
Shows the date and time that the most recent beacon was transmitted from the access point.
Last Beacon
Shows supported and basic (advertised) rate sets for the neighboring access point. Rates are shown in megabits
Rates
per second (Mbps).
All Supported Rates are listed, with Basic Rates shown in bold.
Rate sets are configured on Radio Settings. (See Chapter 16: "Configuring 802.11 Radio Settings".) The rates
shown for an access point will always be the rates currently specified for that AP in its Radio Settings.
IEEE
802.11g client station using this access point should send data when there are
802.11b
(non-ERP) stations or access points present on the same channel as the IEEE 802.11g (ERP)
