MAINTENANCE

■ Troubleshooting

PROBLEM
Does not turn on.
No sound comes from the
speaker.
Senstvty s low and only
strong sgnals are audble.
No contact possble wth
another staton.
Repeater cannot be ac-
cessed.
Frequency cannot be set.
Some memory channels
cannot be selected va the
tunng dal.

POSSIBLE CAUSE
• Power connector has a poor contact.
• Polarty of the power connecton s reversed.
• Blown fuse.
• Volume s too low.
• Squelch s set too hgh.
• A selectve call or squelch functon s actvated
such as pocket beep or tone squelch.
• Antenna feedlne or the antenna connector has a
poor contact or s short crcuted.
• Squelch attenuator functon s actvated.
• The other staton s usng tone squelch.
• The transcever s set to duplex.
• Wrong offset frequency s programmed.
• Wrong subaudble tone frequency s programmed.
• The frequency lock functon s actvated.
• Prorty watch s paused on the watchng frequency.
• The memory channel number has not yet been
programmed.
If your transcever seems to be malfunctonng, please check
the followng ponts before sendng t to a servce center.
SOLUTION
• Check the connector pns.
• Re-connect the power cable observng the proper
polarty. Replace the fuse f damaged.
• Check the cause, then replace the fuse.
• Set the volume to a sutable level.
• Set the squelch level to the threshold.
• Turn the approprate functon OFF.
• Check, and f necessary, replace the feedlne or
solder the antenna connector agan.
• Set squelch between 10–12 o'clock poston (ap-
plcaton) or 12 to 19 level (RC-24).
• Turn the tone squelch functon ON.
• Set to smplex.
• Correct the offset frequency.
• Correct the subaudble tone frequency.
• Turn the functon OFF.
• Cancel the watch.
• Program the memory channel.
