INSTALLATION AND CONNECTIONS
■ Unpacking
After unpackng, mmedately report any damage to the delv-
erng carrer or dealer. Keep the shppng cartons.

cluded wth the ID-1, see 'Suppled Accessores' on p. v of
ths manual.
■ Selecting a location
Select a locaton for the transcever that allows adequate ar
crculaton, free from extreme heat, cold, or vbratons, and
away from TV sets, TV antenna elements, rados and other
electromagnetc sources.
■ Antenna connection
For rado communcatons, the antenna s of crtcal m-
portance, along wth output power and senstvty. Select
antenna(s), such as a well-matched 50 Ω antenna, and feed-
lne. 1.5:1 or better of Voltage Standng Wave Rato (VSWR)
s recommended for your desred band. Of course, the trans-
msson lne should be a coaxal cable.
CAUTION: Protect your transcever from lghtnng by usng
a lghtnng arrestor.

for more nformaton and recommendatons.
• Antenna location for mobile operation
To obtan maxmum performance from the transcever, select
a hgh-qualty antenna and mount t n a good locaton. A non-
radal antenna should be used when usng a magnetc mount.
