NEC MagicEye Technology

The PowerMate Professional Series computer has a chip mounted on the system board that
supports the NEC MagicEye™ Technology. The purpose of this technology is to provide
many new and advanced real-time monitoring capabilities used by DMI. The NEC
MagicEye Technology provides the following features:
T
an integrated temperature sensor with configurable interrupt generation based on
upper and lower temperature limits
T
a power supply monitor with configurable interrupt generation based on high and
low voltage limits
T
chassis intrusion detection with interrupt generation capabilities.
To take advantage of these advanced capabilities, DMI has expanded its interface in the
following areas.
T
MagicEye interrupts may be enabled or disabled.
T
High and low limits can be set and are displayed for temperature and power
supply voltages.
T
Current readings are displayed for temperature, power supply voltages, and
chassis state.
T
MagicEye interrupts can be detected when "out of range" condition occurs. User
prompts are displayed to alert the user to a potentially harmful condition.

VIDEO DRIVERS

Video drivers let you take advantage of the computer's integrated video hardware and
extended graphics modes. The system ships with Matrox or Number Nine Imagine video
drivers for Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0 loaded on the hard disk.
The default video mode is 800 by 600 pixels with 256 colors. You can change the default
video resolution in Windows Setup. You can also change the video resolution and other
video features such as refresh rates in Windows. See "Changing Display Properties," in the
following subsection.
NOTE: To enable/disable LANDesk features
(such as the chassis intrusion alert message),
refer to the online LANDesk Client Manager
Help file.
