Calibrating Print-Head Accuracy

To achieve optimum printing accuracy, the printing process (in the printer
software) is aligned to match the exact position of the print heads installed.
This is done with the aid of the Head Calibration wizard and a scanner. After a
transparency is printed and scanned, it is analyzed. Calibration parameters are
then applied to the printer software, which are used when printing.

To calibrate the print-head parameters:
1. Prepare—

2. From the Wizards screen, select Head Calibration.
3. In the opening wizard screen, click Start to begin.

❒ disposable cleaning gloves (any clean, powder-free protective gloves)
❒ 90% isopropanol (IPA—isopropyl alcohol) or ethanol (ethyl alcohol)
❒ supplied cleaning cloths or equivalent
❒ the recommended scanner (supplied with the printer)
❒ a clean transparency (supplied in the Start-Up Kit)
❒ the grid transparency (supplied in the scanner accessories kit )
❒ a computer running GrabCAD Print (preferably, the computer that
sends print jobs to the printer)
Important: The scanner platen and transparencies used in this procedure
must be absolutely clean, without scratches, fingerprints or other marks. If
necessary, use a suitable glass cleaner and cleaning cloth, and always
wear gloves when handling these items.
