    3 Introducing the 3D Printer Work Configurations Stratasys J5 Series 3D printing systems can be set up as single-station systems or as multi-station systems. When connected to a local computer network, the system can serve multiple users. In such configurations, each user (client) prepares files for production.

All monitoring and controlling of the printer is done from this interface. The printer is ready for all operations when "Idle" is displayed.

Two cartridges of each type of material can be loaded in the material cabinet (upper and lower) for each channel. Each cartridge contains 1.1 kilograms of material when full.

This can happen, for example, if the printing material runs out in the middle of a print job, and you do not replace the empty cartridge immediately.

Otherwise, the printer can remain on, in Idle mode. However, if there is a need to turn off the printer sooner, use the Shutdown wizard to automatically perform the necessary processes before turning off the printer.

If there are many clogged nozzles, the wizard suggests that you clean the print heads with the Routine Cleaning wizard, and test again.

You do this by looking to see if there is a gap between the print heads and the wiper, and indicating this in the wizard screen.

    • Visual inspection of the head reveals that its surface is damaged—peeling or bubbles in the nozzle area. Replace print heads only after consulting with an authorized Stratasys service provider. The Head Replacement wizard guides you through the procedure of replacing a print head, and configures printer components to enable you to perform it.

Identifying the head(s) needing replacement. This is normally done by the Head Optimization wizard or the Pattern Test.

Figure 4-65 Print-head replacement options When you tap Next, the wizard prepares the heads by heating them and emptying the printing material.

Warning: Electrical Hazard Contact with live circuits could cause serious electric shock. Do not continue before turning off the power switch and disconnecting the power cable.
