. Use a punch and maul to relieve the bearing nut where
peened into shaft (figure 13-73).

1. Turn the bearing nut from shaft. left hand thread (figure
, ~-74).

9. Using the rear face of the drive gear as a base, mount the
assembly in a press. and press the shaft through the gear to
unseat bearing from shaft. If necessary, remove snap ring from
drive gear LO. This will free the bearing, spacer and gear from
shaft. Check the bushing in pocket of input shaft and replace if
damaged or worn (figure 13:-75). Disassembly of drive shaft is
complete.
