3. Remove the retaining ring from front bearing (figure
13-69).

4. Use a soft maul, rubber or rawhide mallet to move input
shaft into case. being careful not to damage pilot-end (figure
13-70).

5. Remove drive gear assembly from transmission by lifting it
out through top of case.

6. Secure assembly in a vise, pilot end up, on drive gear O.D.
The vise used should be equipped with either brass jaws or.
wood blocks to prevent damage to the teeth of drive gear (figure
13-72).
