5-7 Transmitted light simple polarization observation procedures

This observation requires the analyzer and the polarizer. However, if the mirror unit (U-MDICT3 or U-MDIC3) is

engaged in the (OP) light path, the built-in analyzer can be used.
Set the main switch of the microscope frame
to (ON) and set the light intensity knob
to the low voltage position.
Set the observation light path selection knob
to the DF (reflected light darkfield) position or
the OP (optional mirror unit) position.
[Trinocular tube only]
Push in the light path selection knob.
Set the main switch of the light source to  (ON).
Set the analyzer and the polarizer.
Place a sample for observation on the stage.
Engage the 5X or 10X objective in the light path
using the objective selection button and
bring the sample into focus.
Engage the objective with the magnification to be used
in the light path and bring the sample into focus.
Observation
Adjust the brightness.
Adjust the interpupillary distance.
Adjust the diopter.
Adjust the brightness.
Insert the required filters.
