Troubleshooting

If problems occur, please review the following list and take remedial action as needed.
If you cannot solve the problem after checking the entire list, please contact Olympus for assistance.
1. Optical systems
a) Even though the lamp is ON,
the field of view is dark or
invisible.
b) The field of view is obscured or
is not evenly illuminated.
c) Dust or dirt is visible in the field
of view.
d) The observed image glares.
e) The visibility of the observed
image is poor.
The image is not sharp.
The contrast is poor.
f) The one-sided blur appears in
the observed image.
The observed image flows.

Problem
The lamp is burned out.
The main switch of the light source
applicable to the observation
method is not set to ON.
The light path selection knob of
the trinocular tube is at the middle
position.
The observation light path
selection knob is at the middle
position.
The filter or the analyzer is not
inserted properly.
The light path selection knob of
the trinocular tube is at the middle
position.
The observation light path
selection knob is at the middle
position.
The aperture diaphragm is not
centered.
The tip of the lamp is dirty.
Dust or dirt is attached to the
sample.
The top surface of the condenser
is dirty.
The tip of the objective is dirty.
The eyepiece is dirty.
The glass plate is dirty.
The aperture diaphragm is
narrowed down too far.
The objective is not correctly
engaged in the light path.
The tip of the condenser lens is
dirty.
You are using the objective or
eyepieces that are not specified.
The sample is tilted.
The objective is not correctly
engaged in the light path.
Cause
Replace with a new lamp.
Turn ON the light source of the
observation method in use.
Set the light path selection knob at
