4.1.6.2.1 CPU power management
BIOS setting Explanation
Intel® SpeedStep™ Option for controlling Intel® SpeedStep™ Tech-
nology. The processor clock speed is increased
or decreased according to the number of calcu-
lations that must be made. As a result, the pow-
er consumption depends largely on the proces-
sor load.
Boot performance mode Option for setting the CPU speed.
P-state reduction Option for reducing CPU performance and pow-
er usage.
C-States This setting allows the operating system to set
the processor clock speed on its own, thereby
saving energy.
Max C-States This setting monitors the maximum C-State that

the processor can support.
1) This setting is only possible if C-States is set to Enabled.

Disabled Disables this function.
Enabled The processor speed is regulated by the oper-
ating system.
Max performance Maximum CPU and graphics speed.
Max battery Throttles down the CPU and graphics speed.
Disabled Disables this function.
By 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 Reduces the performance by the configured
value depending on the CPU being used.
Disabled
Disables this function.
Enabled Enables this function. Additional settings can be
selected.
C7 Maximum C-State C7. CPU voltage is switched
off completely.
C6 Maximum C-State C6. CPU voltage is reduced
to nearly 0 V.
C1 Maximum C-State C1. Processor is in sleep
mode, switch between C0 and C1.
