78 Chapter 7: Creating a Microsoft Windows CE application for Matrox Iris GT
When using
Microsoft Windows
XP SP2
Disabling security exposes your devices to malicious attack and is not
recommended unless you have additional safeguards (such as a firewall, antivirus,
and other protective third-party software). If your Matrox Iris GT is directly
connected to your development computer and is not able to connect to the
Internet, disabling CMACCEPT can speed up communications.
❖ Any firewall software should be modified to allow communication with your
Matrox Iris GT. A warning message from Microsoft Windows Firewall will
indicate that CMACCEPT or CONMANCLIENT2 is trying to access the
development computer. Allow the connection.
To terminate CONMANCLIENT2, open another command prompt window,
run telnet, and start the CLIENTSHUTDOWN utility.

Building an application

Once the Connection Manager is running, you can build your application in
Microsoft Visual Studio. To do so:
1. Ensure that you are building the appropriate project by verifying the Solution
configuration and Solution platform drop-down list boxes, found on the toolbar.
2. On the same toolbar, adjust the Solution configuration setting, to ensure that you
are building the project using the appropriate configuration (release or debug).
3. Build your application, by selecting the Build Build Solution or the Build Rebuild
Solution menu command.

Manually transferring an application

To manually transfer an application from your development computer to your
Matrox Iris GT, select the Build Deploy menu command.
When the application is being transferred from your development computer to
your Matrox Iris GT, Microsoft Visual Studio uses the Connection Manager to
communicate with your Matrox Iris GT, and then downloads the file to the folder
on your smart camera, specified in your project's settings.
1. If your development computer is not linked to your Matrox Iris GT, Microsoft Visual
Studio will return an error.
