No X Movement: Fault 1.0

Abbott VP 2000™ Processor Service Manual
30-608308/R1—September 2008
1. Power OFF, top cover removed.
Check that the X drive belt is in position over the X
motor and idler pulleys, and that it is pulled tight
between the carriage and pulleys.
2. Power OFF, top cover removed.
Check for free movement of the carriage and Robotic
Arm. Gently push the carriage slowly from side to side of
the unit. You should feel uniform resistance to the
movement. Verify that the X motor and idler pulleys are
rotating in both directions. Inspect four (4) wheel and
axle assemblies.
3. Power OFF, top cover removed; X drive belt OFF pulleys.
Grasp the X motor pulley and rotate in both clockwise
and counter-clockwise directions. The pulley should
rotate with an uniform resistance caused by the magnetic
field of the motor. If the pulley spins free, check the screw
mounting pulley to shaft. If the pulley does not turn,
replace the X motor.
4. Power OFF, top cover removed; X drive belt OFF pulleys.
Rotate the idler pulley. The resistance should be uniform
clockwise and counter-clockwise without any binding.
Reinstall the X drive belt.
5. Power OFF, top cover removed.
Check that all plug-in connectors [J1, J2, J3, J7, J8, J9, J10,
J11, J12 and J13] are correctly aligned and fully seated.
A disconnect at J7 or J9 will prevent all movement in the
X direction.
A disconnect at any other connector may prevent X
movement under certain conditions.
6. Power ON, top cover removed.
WARNING: Electrical Shock Hazard. Test the X
sensors according to the Sensor Test Program defined in
this section.
