The exhaust gas aftertreatment system must be
operated in conjunction with AdBlue
function correctly.
If you operate the vehicle without AdBlue
with emissions-relevant malfunctions, the operat‐
ing permit is invalidated. The legal consequence
of this is that the vehicle may no longer be oper‐
ated on public roads.
Engine management monitors the exhaust gas
aftertreatment components for compliance with
emissions laws and regulations. If you attempt to
operate the vehicle without AdBlue
®
AdBlue or with a different reducing agent, this
will be detected by the engine management sys‐
tem. Other emissions-relevant malfunctions, e.g.
metering malfunctions or sensor errors, are also
detected and logged.
