ECO start/stop function
ECO start/stop function operation
The engine is switched off automatically if the fol‐
lowing conditions are met:
Vehicles with manual transmission: you
R
decelerate the vehicle to a lower speed, then
engage neutral i and then release the
clutch pedal.
Vehicles with automatic transmission: you
R
keep the vehicle in transmission position h
or i.
All on vehicle conditions for automatic engine
R
stop are met.
When stationary, the è symbol appears in the
multifunction display. If all on vehicle conditions
are not met, the ç symbol appears in the mul‐
tifunction display.
The engine restarts automatically in the following
cases:
Vehicles with manual transmission: you
R
depress the clutch pedal.
Vehicles with manual transmission: you
R
engage reverse gear k.
Vehicles with automatic transmission: you
R
release the brake pedal in transmission posi‐
tion h and with the HOLD function deactiva‐
ted.
Vehicles with automatic transmission: you
R
shift out of transmission position j.
Vehicles with automatic transmission: you
R
select transmission position h or k.
you depress the accelerator pedal.
R
an on vehicle automatic engine start is

required.
If the engine was switched off by the ECO start/
stop function and you leave the vehicle, a warning
tone sounds. Additionally, the

play. If you do not switch off the ignition, the igni‐
tion is automatically deactivated after one
minute.

ECO display function
The ECO display summarises the driving charac‐
teristics from the start of the journey to its com‐
pletion and assists you in achieving the most eco‐
nomical driving style.
You can influence consumption:
Drive in an anticipatory manner.

Comply with the gear shift recommendations.
R
The segment's lettering lights up bright, the outer
edge lights up and the segment is filled, in the
following cases:

uniform speed

2
smooth deceleration and rolling
R
3
moderate acceleration
R
