Automatic gearbox: Removal - Refitting

II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
a Remove the hoses and the wiring fitted to the auto-
matic gearbox bell housing.
a Remove the nuts from the starter wiring.
a Remove the starter (see Starter: Removal - Refit-
ting) (MR 415, 16A,Starting - Charging)
a Remove the nuts from the converter through the
starter opening.
a Remove the gearbox bell housing bolts and nuts.
a Disconnect the "engine - gearbox" assembly from
the (Mot. 1390) using a workshop hoist.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
a Parts always to be replaced:
- the self-locking nuts,
- the differential output seals,
- the converter nuts,
- the level-setting plug seal.
AUTOMATIC GEARBOX

a Check:
- the distance X with a ruler. This distance must be a
minimum of 20.5 mm,
- the condition of the drive plate and crown wheel vi-
sually.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a
Note:
Before fitting the gearbox to the engine, position
the converter bolts opposite the holes on the
drive plate.
a Refit:
- the gearbox on the engine,
- the gearbox bell housing nuts and bolts
- the converter nuts,
- the engine - gearbox assembly on the (Mot. 1390).
a Torque tighten the gearbox bell housing bolts and
nuts (44 N.m).
