Expansion chamber: Removal - Refitting

IMPORTANT
Wear heat protective gloves during the operation.

Note:
Before carrying out work on the expansion chamber
(see 19B, Exhaust, Exhaust: Precautions for the
repair, page 19B-18) .
REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
a Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (MR 415, 02A, Lifting equip-
ment).
II - REMOVAL OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Cut the exhaust pipe in the marked cutting zone (see
19B, Exhaust, Exhaust: Precautions for the re-
pair, page 19B-18) and (see Exhaust: Parts and
consumables for the repair) .
Note:
Place a component jack under the expansion
chamber to prevent it from falling.
EXHAUST
a Remove:
- the rear silencer clip (1) ,
- the expansion chamber.
REFITTING

CONCERNED
a Refit:
- the expansion chamber,
- the clip between the expansion chamber and the

Note:
Replace the clip between the expansion chamber
and the silencer if it is damaged.
WARNING
To prevent the surrounding components from
overheating, do not damage (tear, pierce bend
etc.) a heat shield. All damaged heat shields
must be replaced.
