Intermediate pipe: Removal - Refitting

IMPORTANT
To avoid all risk of damage to the systems, apply
the safety and cleanliness instructions and opera-
tion recommendations before carrying out any
repair:
- see Exhaust: Precautions for repair (19B,
Exhaust),
- see Vehicle: Precautions for repair (01D,
Mechanical introduction).
REMOVING THE INTERMEDIATE PIPE
a Position the vehicle on a lift (see Vehicle: Towing
and lifting) .
a Place a component jack under the intermediate
pipe.

Note:
The intermediate pipe is a single unit from the
catalytic converter outlet to the silencer inlet.

a Remove:
- the silencer (see 19B, Exhaust, Silencer: Remov-
- the engine undertray,
- the intermediate pipe bolts (1) on the catalytic con-
- the intermediate pipe,
- the sealing ring on the catalytic converter and dis-

a Cut the exhaust pipe (see 19B, Exhaust, Exhaust:
Precautions for the repair, page 19B-18) between
the intermediate pipe front section and the interme-
diate pipe, in the designated cutting zone (see 19B,
Exhaust, Exhaust: List and location of compo-
nents, page 19B-1) .
