Engine cooling fan assembly: Removal - Refitting

Equipment required
indelible pencil
REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
a Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (MR 415, 02A, Lifting equip-
ment).
a Disconnect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Re-
fitting) (MR 415, 80A, Battery).
a Remove the front engine cover.
a Remove:
- the cooling assembly protector bolts (1) ,
- the cooling assembly protector clips (2) ,
- the cooling assembly protector.
Note:
T o remove the clips (2) , undo the head of the
bolt head on the clip by a quarter of a turn then
remove the clip.
a Disconnect the motor-driven fan assembly connec-
tors.
COOLING
a Unpick and remove:
- the fan assembly wiring,
- the fan assembly cooling hoses.
a Remove the upper deflectors from the upper cross
member.
a Attach the upper ends of the cooling assembly to the
upper cross member with a strap.
a Remove:
- the engine undertray,
- the front wheels (see Wheel: Removal - Refitting)
- the front wheel arch liners (see Front wheel arch
- the lower cross member (see Radiator mounting
a Remove the intercooler (see 12B, Turbocharging,
Intercooler: Removal - Refitting, page 12B-59)
(MR 415, 12B, Turbocharging).
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART

a

a Detach the fan assembly from the cooling radiator.
a Remove the motor-driven fan assembly from under-
neath the vehicle.

Note:
When disconnecting the top hose, detach the
pipe from the retaining bracket on the fan assem-
bly then detach the pipe from the cooling radia-
tor.

liner: Removal - Refitting) (MR 416, 55A, Exterior
protection),
cross member: Removal - Refitting) (MR 416,
41A, Front lower structure).
Note:
Insert a cardboard protector between the cooling
radiator and the fan assembly to protect the cool-
ing radiator vanes.
