About the Pad Audio Play function
• Pad Audio Play is a function that lets you use the front panel
buttons and 16 pads to switch instantly between audio songs
recorded by the KROSS's audio recorder or existing audio files.
Note: One song can be assigned to each of the 16 pads.
Note: In order to use this function, you'll need an SD card that was
formatted on the KROSS, and an audio song that was recorded on
the KROSS or an external audio file. This function cannot be used
if there is no file to play back.
• To control the pad audio play function, use the front panel
AUDIO PLAY ACTIVE button, the 16 pads, and the BANK
SELECT button.
Files that can be assigned to pads
• File format: WAVE format uncompressed linear PCM
• Sampling bit depth: 16-bit
• Sampling frequency: 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz, stereo files
Pad audio play control
To perform operations and create settings for pad audio play, use
the AUDIO PLAY ACTIVE button and BANK SELECT button
located in the pad section of the front panel, and the AUDIO
PLAY SETUP dialog box that appears when you press the AUDIO
PLAY ACTIVE button (

When this is on, the 16 pads can be used for pad audio play
operations.
By pressing this together with the EXIT button (
can access the AUDIO SONG SETUP window.
BANK SELECT button
Selects the audio song bank. The current bank is indicated by the
bank indicator LED (A-H) that is lit. Each time you press the
BANK SELECT button, the lit LED cycles in the order of
A→B→C...H→A→B→....
AUDIO PLAY SETUP window
Here you can check the current assignments of audio songs to each
pad, and execute functions such as copying, reordering, or deleting
audio songs. Use the buttons located below the display to perform
operations.
FUNCTION (FUNC) button
Executes functions such as deleting the audio song assignment for
the selected pad, or reordering assignments.
MENU (EDIT) button
In the AUDIO SONG SETUP window you can assign an audio
song to the selected pad and make various settings.

Here you can select the song to register to a pad, and execute
functions such as undo, loop, and playback level adjustment. Use
the buttons located below the display to perform operations.
Note: You can't record an audio song in this window.
FUNCTION (FUNC) button
Accesses the function list. Here you can rename songs or set the
level.
PAGE- (UNDO) button
Accesses the UNDO dialog box. This lets you selectively retrace
your recorded takes. In this dialog box you can also perform the
Redo operation to bring back the recorded take.
PAGE+ (Stop/Reset) button
Stops playback of the assigned audio song. When playback stops,
you'll return to the stored location. If you press Locate while
stopped, you'll return to the beginning of the song 0:00:00.
MENU (Start/Pause) button
Plays the assigned audio song. Pressing this during playback
pauses the playback; pressing it again resumes playback from that
time.
Assigning a song
1. While holding down the EXIT button (

2. Press the pad to which you want to assign an audio song or
whose settings you want to change,or use the cursor keys to
select it; then press the MENU (EDIT) button to open the
AUDIO SONG SETUP window.
3. Select the audio song that you want to assign.
4. Select the take of the selected audio song. Make settings for
loop playback. You can use the MENU (Start) button and
PAGE+ (Stop/Reset) button to play back the audio song
and check the above settings.
5. When you've finished making settings, press the EXIT but-
ton to close the AUDIO SONG SETUP window.
