Procedure for Installing and Commissioning New Expansion Modules

If there is enough space in the rack for the new expansion modules and the existing
modules have not to be rearranged in the rack, proceed as follows:
1. Shutdown the server via the ETERNUS CS800 S5 remote management pages (see
"Reboot & Shutdown" on page
Shutting down the system can take up to 15 minutes. The server is switched off and
goes into standby mode. The power-on indicator lights up orange.

2. Install the additional storage expansion modules in the rack according to the numbering
scheme of the modules, see

CAUTION!
Install only system expansions that satisfy the requirements and rules
governing safety. If you install other expansions, you may damage the system
or violate these safety regulations. Information can be obtained from FTS
Customer Service or your local sales office.
If you cause a defect on the device by installing or exchanging system expan-
sions that are not released or qualified for ETERNUS CS800 S5, the warranty
is invalidated.
To add expansion modules make sure that you only use storage expansion
modules that are fully equipped and not manually configured. No preparations of
the ETERNUS DX80 S2 or the new expansion must be done. Just connect the new
expansion physically as described below and let the ETERNUS CS800 S5 software
perform all steps necessary.
WARNING!
DO NOT run the "Add new enclosure" function provided by the ETERNUS DX80
S2.
The storage modules are not switched off by shutting down the ETERNUS
CS800 S5 as described. This is intended and necessary, i.e. do NOT switch
them off.
