Step 16. Reinstall the system board (see "Installing the system board" on page 291),
Step 17. Reconnect all connected cables to the system board and reconnect the cables to the power paddle
card before replace the power paddle card cover (see "Internal cable routing and connectors" on
page 33).
Step 18. Reinstall the fan cage assembly (see "Installing the fan cage assembly" on page 262).
Step 19. Reinstall all PCIe cards from the system board.
Step 20. Reinstall the air baffle (see "Replacing the air baffle" on page 189).
Step 21. Install and lock the left-side cover (see "Installing the left-side cover" on page 183).
Step 22. Stand the server back up in its vertical position.
If you have replaced a server component or installed an optional device in the server, you need to reconnect
the power cords and all external cables, and turn on the server and peripheral devices.

Removing a microprocessor and heat sink

Use this information to remove a microprocessor and heat sink.
Read the safety information in "Safety" on page v and "Installation guidelines" on page 29.
If you are replacing a server component in the server, you need to turn off the server and peripheral devices,
and disconnect the power cords and all external cables.
The following notes describe the type of microprocessor that the server supports and other information that
you must consider when you install a microprocessor and heat sink:
• Microprocessors are to be installed only by trained technicians.
Important: Always use the microprocessor installation tool to install a microprocessor. Failing to use
the microprocessor installation tool may damage the microprocessor sockets on the system board. Any
damage to the microprocessor sockets may require replacing the system board.
