Note: In order to ensure that the ODD/DVD drive can eject smoothly and avoid damage, remove the bezel
filler. See Figure 99 "Remove the bezel filler" on page 181.
If you have replaced a server component or installed an optional device in the server, you need to reconnect
the power cords and all external cables, and turn on the server and peripheral devices.
Removing an optional tape drive
Use this information to remove an optional tape drive.
Read the safety information in "Safety" on page v and "Installation guidelines" on page 29.
If you are replacing a server component in the server, you need to turn off the server and peripheral devices,
and disconnect the power cords and all external cables.
To remove an optional full-height tape drive, complete the following steps.
Step 1.
Unlock and remove the left-side cover (see "Removing the left-side cover" on page 182).
Step 2.
Open the bezel (see "Removing the bezel" on page 184).
Step 3.
Disconnect the power and signal cables from the back of the tape drive. (see "Internal cable
routing and connectors" on page 33)
Step 4.
Grasp both sides of the tape drive to pull the drive out of the drive bay from the server.

Step 5.
Note the location of the drive retainer clip on the tape drive; then, remove the drive retainer clip
and save them for future use.
Step 6.
Gently pull the tape drive out of the server.
If you are instructed to return the server component or optional device, follow all packaging instructions,
and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
