To install the light path diagnostics assembly, complete the following steps.
Step 1. Carefully lay the server down on its side.
Step 2. Unlock and remove the left-side cover (see "Removing the left-side cover" on page 182).
Step 3. Remove the air baffle (see "Removing the air baffle" on page 188).
Step 4. Remove the fan cage assembly (see "Removing the fan cage assembly" on page 261).
Step 5. Touch the static-protective package that contains the light path diagnostics assembly to any
unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove the assembly from the package.
Step 6. Install the light path diagnostics assembly into the place.

Step 7. Connect the light path diagnostics cable to the system board. See "System-board internal
connectors" on page 25 and "Internal cable routing and connectors" on page 33 to locate the light
path diagnostics connectors on the system board.
Step 8. Install the fan cage assembly (see "Installing the fan cage assembly" on page 262).
Step 9. Install the air baffle (see "Replacing the air baffle" on page 189).
Step 10. Install and lock the left-side cover (see "Installing the left-side cover" on page 183).
Step 11. Stand the server back up in its vertical position.
If you have replaced a server component or installed an optional device in the server, you need to reconnect
the power cords and all external cables, and turn on the server and peripheral devices.
Removing the USB assembly
Use the information to remove the USB assembly.
