Step 1. Read the safety information that begins on "Safety" on page v and "Removing and replacing
guidelines" on page 101.
Step 2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables.
Step 3. Remove the top cover (see "Removing the top cover" on page 116).
Step 4. 1 Lift the fan cage assembly release latches and rotate the release latches up until the fan cage
assembly disengages from the chassis;

Step 5. If you are instructed to return the fan cage assembly, follow all of the packaging instructions, and
use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.

Replacing the fan cage assembly

Use this information to replace the fan cage assembly.
To install the fan cage assembly, complete the following steps:
Step 1. Read the safety information that begins on "Safety" on page v and "Removing and replacing
guidelines" on page 101.
Step 2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect all power cords.
Step 3. Remove the top cover (see "Removing the top cover" on page 116).
Step 4. 1 Align the pins on the fan cage assembly with the slots on both sides of the chassis and lower it
into the server.
Step 5. 2 Rotate the fan cage assembly release latches down until the release latches are in the locked
position and make sure the assembly is correctly seated into place.

2 then, lift the fan cage assembly out of the server.
