Chapter 8 Reference
Inhibitive submasters
Inhibitive submasters are submasters that include a set of channels
whose levels you can limit to a specific level. Inhibitive submasters work
similarly to the Grand Master, but for a limited number of channels.
When an inhibitive submaster is set at 10 (100 percent), no channels are
affected by it . When the submaster is set at any level less than 10,
channels included in the submaster are limited to that percentage.
Submasters 13 through 24 can be programmed as either pile-on or
inhibitive submasters . All other submasters always function as pile-ons.
Inhibitive submasters override channel levels produced by all other
faders . Captured channels are unaffected by inhibitive submasters.
Each channel can be included in only one inhibitive submaster . If you
assign a channel to an inhibitive submaster that is already included in
another, Expression removes it from the first one, and adds it to the
submaster that you most recently recorded.
To save a group of channels in an inhibitive submaster follow these
steps:
1. Select desired channels.
2. Press [Rec] [Sub] [-].
3. Press the bump switch of an available submaster (only numbers 13
through 24 may be used for inhibitive submasters) . If you select a
bump switch of a recorded submaster, the new inhibitive submaster
overwrites the old one.
A lit red LED on a bump switch indicates that an inhibitive submas-
ter is recorded .
Impression has two pages of submasters. Follow the procedure on page
4 - 40 and 4 - 45 to record submasters to a specific submaster pages.
Note: Leave inhibitive submasters at 10 (100 percent) until you want to
inhibit channels. Otherwise channels may be missing from your cues. If
you seem to be missing some channels, check your inhibitive subs!
