Simulation mode (vector)

4.11.1
Description
Simulation mode allows you to simulate the drive without a connected motor and
without the DC link voltage. When doing so, note that simulation mode can only be
activated with an actual DC link voltage of 40 V. If the voltage is higher, simulation
mode is reset and fault message F07826 is output.
Simulation mode enables you to test communication with a higher-level automation
system. If the drive is also to return actual values, note that is must be switched
over to sensorless operation (V/f) during simulation mode. A range of components
in the SINAMICS software (e.g. setpoint channel, sequence control, communica-
tion, technology function, etc.) must be tested in this way beforehand.
Simulation mode also allows you test the power section. Particularly with devices
greater than 75 kW (690 V) and 110 kW (400 V), you must check that the power
semi-conductor can be activated properly after repairs. To do so, apply a small di-
rect current as the DC link voltage (e.g. 12 V), switch on the device, and enable
the pulses. It must be possible to pass through all the pulse patterns of the gating
unit software.
The software must, therefore, allow the pulses to be activated and the system to
approach different frequencies. If a speed encoder is not installed, this is usually
carried out by means of V/f control or sensorless speed control.
Note
Simulation mode cannot be activated without a power section. A power section
must be connected via DRIVE-CLiQ.
