Step 2. Remove the PCI riser-card assembly (see "Removing the PCI riser-card assembly" on page 163).
Step 3. Remove the expansion-slot filler on the slot that you intend to use and save for future use.
Attention: PCI expansion-slot fillers must be installed on all vacant slots. This maintains the
electronic emissions standards of the server and ensures proper ventilation of server components.

Step 4. Touch the static-protective package that contains the new ServeRAID SAS/SATA controller to any
unpainted surface on the outside of the server; then, grasp the ServeRAID SAS/SATA controller
by the top edge or upper corners of the ServeRAID SAS/SATA controller and remove it from the
package.
Step 5. Take the signal cable that is attached to the drive backplate assembly/backplane and connect it to
the ServeRAID SAS/SATA controller.
