Connecting the server to the mains voltage

There are slots for four hot-swappable power supply units on the rear of the
blade server system. Each of the power supply units provide 1200W at 220V
(850W at 110V). The base system is equipped with two power supply units. If
more than 5 server blades are installed, the 3rd power supply unit must also be
installed. To obtain power supply redundancy with more then five server blades
four power supply units must be installed.
Ê Connect one power cord to each power supply unit of the server (1).
Connect the other ends of the power cords to the socket strip of the rack (2)
(see assembly instructions on the ServerBooks CD-ROM, „Components").
Please make sure that each of the power supply units is connected to a
i
different phase. This will provide you with additional phase redundancy
for high availability configurations. If one phase has failed, the power
supply units connected to the other phases keep active. You can get full
phase redundancy with up to three power supply units. With four power
supply units, two of them are to be connected to one phase.
!
If up to 5 server blades are installed, make sure that at least two power
supply units are installed! With more than 5 server blades, at least three
power supply units must be installed!
