Installation and initial operation

Server Blade Setup Using ServerStart

There are three ways to set up the server blades:
– Local installation with ServerStart (see
– Remote installation (see section ServerStart Remote Installation in the
ServerView Suite user guide and on the PRIMERGY ServerBooks CD).
– Deployment of cloning images from a remote image repository to the desired
server blades (for more information see the RemoteDeploy manual on the
ServerBooks CD (as of version 5.210).
–The RemoteDeploy software package can be obtained from Fujitsu
i
Siemens Customer Service under the order number U15000-C180.

Reference installation

A reference installation of a server blade with the help of ServerStart serves as
basis for a cloning image. This image is created and then used by RemoteDeploy
for the duplication of other server blades.
For detailed information on how to use ServerStart, see the ServerView
i
Suite user guide and on the PRIMERGY ServerBooks CD.

Hardware preparation

To allow first-time installation of a server blade using ServerStart or to allow later
adjustments, the desired server blade must be connected to a CD-ROM and
floppy disk drive via a USB interface. A monitor, keyboard and mouse must also
be connected to the BX600 cabinet rear and routed to the desired server blade
via the internal KVM switch.
Connecting the USB CD-ROM drive and floppy disk drive to the server blade
Ê Connect the breakout cable to the USB/VGA front panel connector of the
desired server blade.
