Upgrading the Server Blade Firmware (BIOS and BMC)

Upgrading the server blade firmware using a USB floppy disk drive
Proceed as follows:
Ê Create a bootable floppy disk and copy the desired BIOS and/or BMC files
onto it.
Ê Connect the breakout cable to the front panel of the relevant server blade.
Connect the USB floppy disk drive to the other end of the breakout cable.
Ê Turn on or reboot the server blade. The firmware upgrades are performed
automatically.
You may have to change the sequence of boot devices in the BIOS to
i
enable booting from floppy disk. For more information see the BIOS
Setup Description and the ServerStart User Guide. Both manuals are
contained on your ServerBooks CD (from version 5.208).
Upgrading the server blade firmware using TFTP
Proceed as follows:
Ê Install and run your TFTP server software and copy the desired BIOS and/or
BMC firmware files into the TFTP file system root directory.
You can use the TFTP software pumpkin contained on the ServerStart
i
CD.
Ê Check the LAN connection by pinging the relevant server blade.
