Upgrading to a quad-socket
server blade
This chapter describes how to connect two BX630 S2 dual-socket server blades
to form a quad-socket server blade.
9.1

Overview

Figure 26: PRIMERGY BX630 S2 quad-socket server blade
The above figure shows a BX630 S2 quad-socket server blade as it is installed
in the BX600 S2 or BX600 S3 basic unit. The master module is on the right side,
identifiable by the handles and the control elements (A) on the control panel
board. The slave module has the handles removed and the control panel has
been replaced by a dummy module. The slave module has a fixed connection
to the housing cover of the master module.
The two modules of the quad-socket server blade exchange data through small
circuit boards with printing on both sides, see

In a PRIMERGY BX630 S2 quad-socket server blade, only processors of
the Opteron 83xx MP series are allowed.
