CRANKCASE/CRANKSHAFT/TRANSMISSION
TRANSMISSION BEARING
Turn the
inner
race
of each bearing with your finger.
The bearings
should turn smoothly and quietly. Also
check
that the bearing
outer
race fits tightly
in
the
crankcase.
Replace the bearings if the race does not
turn
smoothly and quietly, or
if
they
fit
loosely in the
crankcase
(page
'
0-7).

CAUTION:
When removing, instslfing and
inspecting
the
crBnkshah,
be careful
not
to
damage
or
nick the
hollow crank weight.
Separate the crankcase (page
10-4),
Remove the transmission
(page 10-6),
Remove the crankshaft
from
the right crankcase
using a hydraulic press as shown.
If the crankshaft bearing is
removed
with
the
crank-
shaft,
remove
the bearing using
the
bearing puller
and
discard
the bearing.

Place
the crankshaft
on a stand or V-blocks.
Set the indicator on
the
main journal.
Rotate the crankshaft two revolutions and read the
runout.
