Never
use
a
new
Inspecllhe

teeth for wear

worn
or
damage, replace
if
necessary.

BRAKE FLUID
GOOD
CAUTION:
Do
no
t mix different types of
fluid,
as
they
are
not
compatible with each
other.
Do not
allow
foreign material to
enter
the
system
when
filling the
reservoir.
Avoid spilling
fluid
on
painted, plastic
or
rubber
parts.
Place
a
rag
over
these parts
whenever the
system
is
servicBd.
FLUID
LEVEL INSPECTION
NOTE:
When the fluid level
is
low,
check
the brake pads for
wear
(see next
page). A low fluid level may be due
to wear
afthe
brake pads. If the brake pads are worn,

the
caliper
piston is pushed
out.
and this accounts
for a low reservoir level. If the brake pads are not
worn
and
the fluid level
is
low,
check the entire
system for leaks
(see
next pagel.
FRONT BRAKE
:
Check the front brake fluid reservoir level through
the
sight
glass.
If the
level is
near the
lower
level mark,
check
the
brake pad wear
(page
3-14).
REAR BRAKE
:
Place the
motorcycle on a level surface, and support

it
in an upright position.
Check the
rear
brake fluid
reservoir
level.
If the
level is near
the
lower level mark, check the UPPER
brake pad
wear (page
3-14).
FRONT:
Remove the
screws, cover
and diaphragm.
Fill the reservoir with DOT

brake fluid to the upper
level
mark.
Install the diaphragm and
cover.
Tighten the
screws
to
the
specified torque.
TORQUE:
1 N·m
(0.
1
kgf·m.
0.7 IbMt)
Check the
entire
system for
leaks.
MARK
REPLACE
