REPLACEMENT OF REAR OIL SEAL
NOTE:
There are two methods to replace the oil seal
depending on whether the rear oil seal retainer is
assembled to the engine or not.
1.
REPLACE CRANKSHAFT REAR OIL SEAL
(a)
Using a screwdriver and hammer, tap out the oil seal.
(b)
Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new oil seal until
its surface is flush with the rear oil seal retainer edge.
SST 09223-41020
NOTE:
Be careful not to install the oil seal slantwise.

Apply MP grease to the seal lip.
2.
IF REAR OIL SEAL RETAINER IS INSTALLED ON
CYLINDER BLOCK
Tape
(a)
Using a knife, cut off the lip of the oil seal as shown.

(b)
Using a screwdriver of taping tip, pry out the oil seal.
CAUTION:
Be careful not to damage the crankshaft.
(c)
Check the oil seal lip contact surface of the
crankshaft for cracks or damage.
(d)
Apply MP grease to a new oil seal lip.
(e)
Using SST and a hammer, tap in the oil seal until its
surface is flush with the rear oil seal retainer edge.
