REMOVE BOOTS
(a)
Remove the boot of the inboard joint.
(b)
Remove the drive shaft damper.
(RH
shaft only)
(c)
Remove the boot of the outboard joint.
(d)
Check the inside and outside of the boots for
damage.

CHECK DRIVE SHAFT
(a)
Check to see that there is play in the inboard and out-
board joint.
(b)
Check to see that the inboard joint slides smoothly in
the thrust direction.
(c)
Check to see that there is no play in the radial direc-
tion of the inboard joint.
(d)
Check for damage to boot.
REMOVE BOOT CLAMPS

DISASSEMBLE INBOARD JOINT
(a)
Place matchmarks on the inboard joint and drive
shaft.
CAUTION:
Do not punch the marks.
(b)
Using snap ring pliers, remove the snap ring.
