Procedure 5
Replacement Check
The system board or other PCB may be damaged. Disassemble the computer following the
steps described in Chapter 4, Replacement Procedures, and perform the following checks.
If the Real Timer diagnostic test detects an error, go to Check 1.
If the Async diagnostic test detects an error, go to Check 2.
If the Sound diagnostic test detects an error, go to Check 4.
If the System, Memory, Printer, or PCMCIA diagnostic test detects an error, go to
Check 5.
NOTE: Refer to Chapter 4 for instructions on how to remove and replace any of
the following boards.
Check 1
Replace the IPS board with a new one. If the problem still exists, go to Check 2.
Check 2
Replace the Infrared board with a new one. If the problem still exists, go to
Check 3.
Check 3
Replace the sound board with a new one. If the problem still exists, go to
Check 4.
Check 4
Replace the flexible cable with a new one. If the problem still exists, go to
Check 5.
Check 5
Replace the power supply board with a new one. If the problem still exists, go to
Check 6.
Check 6
Replace the system board with a new one.
