Specify local system domain and a list of domains

If you enter a partial domain, FTOS can search different domains to finish or fully qualify that partial
domain. A fully qualified domain name (FQDN) is any name that is terminated with a period/dot. FTOS
searches the host table first to resolve the partial domain. The host table contains both statically configured
and dynamically learnt host and IP addresses. If FT OS cannot resolve the domain, it tries the domain name
assigned to the local system. If that does not resolve the partial domain, FT OS searches the list of domains

To configure a domain name, use the following command in the CONFIGURATION mode:

Purpose
Enter up to 63 characters to configure one domain name
for the E-Series.
Purpose
Enter up to 63 characters to configure names to complete
unqualified host names. Configure this command up to 6
times to specify a list of possible domain names.
FTOS searches the domain names in the order they were
configured until a match is found or the list is exhausted.
Purpose
Enable dynamic resolution of host names.
Specify up to 6 name servers. The order you entered the
servers determines the order of their use.
When you enter the traceroute command without
specifying an IP address (Extended Traceroute), you are
prompted for a target and source IP address, timeout in
seconds (default is 5), a probe count (default is 3),
minimum TTL (default is 1), maximum TTL (default is
30), and port number (default is 33434). To keep the
default setting for those parameters, press the ENTER key.
